"Evolution of The Dahlia" by Nurhuda Binte Mohamed Khamis

The beauty of the dahlia is in the repetition of its petals in their different sizes. Its repetitive movement in a radial pattern is reflected in evolution of the dahlia whereby the same shape - the circle - has been repeated in different forms. The shape gradually changes, from formlessness to transparency to solidity. The geometric shape of the circle that has been chosen for the abstraction of the dahlia has been inspired by the fact that all matter is composed of weightless atoms that are bound together by invisible force thus creating what we name as solids. The sculpture has been photographed amidst the green of the grass as it is intended to symbolize the emergence of an entity that in itself evolves from heaviness to lightness, and vice versa.
