"Balancing Bird" by Ler Rui Qi

With the initial inspiration from an egret, I decided to focus on the flight and balancing abilities of birds. The bird balancing precariously on the stand seems to be taking off, freezing a moment in time. The stand is wavy and transparent, similar to the splashes that an egret makes when taking off from the water. In a tribute to the gracefulness of egrets, there are no straight lines in the form of the bird except for the beak. The use of black and white adds to the contrasts and balance of the overall figure. The rocking movement when the bird is swung helps soothe and relax. May imagination and fantasies take flight and soar like birds.
