“Me again” -  A rediscovered Silver Age.

Ideas and Products for a new generational performance. The Baby Boomers become seniors and propose a completely renewed concept of old age. The project is dedicated to the profound changes that the new perception of age will have on the design of products and services.

“The older you are, the more you become you.”
Generations - W. Strauss and N. Howe

Particularly illuminating is the thought on the mode of ageing of the Boomers that maturing become always more complex, sophisticated and with strong subjectivity.

“The Seniors are therefore the Boomers that today do not accept the typical values and behaviors of old age, and that today rediscover and re-launch the values of their utopian youth, filtered by their gained experience and maturity.

The affirmation of this group, implies the definition of a completely new and regenerated "aesthetic": informal, youthful, energetic, in some cases psychedelic, but always in line with the values of the third millennium. The password for them continues to be experimentation, mental exploration, tangible innovation.”

Several studies have been done in different Asian and Western countries about the so called “Third Age”. Those studies analyze structure and composition of the inherent social context and try to forecast a possible and ideal future for ageing generations. The Singaporean context is quite complex: cultural crossover, wealth, social structures reflected on a society in fast growth and transformation. An analytical approach, through observations and interviews, will help to understand more about a possible development of the society.

Where is the “Third Age” collocated in the modern society?

What can we do as designers?

How technology can help the “Third Age”, providing new tools and new services to re-qualify and improve their life?
