“WheelZ" by Tam Kwan Yuen
The hamster house that is both interactive and stimulating to both the animal and the human has two parts: the visual and the kinesthetic. The visual component allows human viewers to see changing patterns on the surface of the house that is to be put on the wall when the hamster crawls aross wheels that in turn spin the discs on the outside. Thus this causes the viewer to be engaged as he wonders what is making the discs to move. The hamster could move up and down the hamster house by crawling on the steps that are stuck on the walls of the house. The above mock-up models show both the exterior and interior of the house. The hamster can also feed and live in the house as certain compartments are being made on the third and lifth levels of the house and they can be taken out to wash from the right. The entire model is able to create interaction between both the human and the hamster by means of the hamster’s movement.
