Global Grad Show is an exhibition of innovation from the world’s leading design and technology schools. The 2017 edition will be the largest ever, with 200 groundbreaking projects from 92 universities in 43 countries brought together in a single space and presented to the public by the designers themselves.
The exhibition was created to open the field of design to participants from as many places as possible. This includes the show’s exhibitors as well as its audience. In the exhibition you’ll find products intended for infants and for the elderly, for athletes, office workers, fruit vendors, and families displaced by war. The goal is to make it clear that design is a vital part of life, relevant to everyone and in need of contributions from everywhere.

Project Description:
Tactuitive is a collection of tactile tableware, designed to help the visually-impaired distinguish between similarly shaped vessels.

The set is composed of four items: a rice bowl, a soup bowl, a side dish bowl and a tea cup. Inspired by the converging and diverging patterns in sound, users can distinguish individual vessels by the number of converging and diverging lines on their exterior surface. This purely touch-based approach empowers visually-impaired uses to recognise the function of their tableware without assistance. Tactuitive envisions an inclusive design language built upon non-visual, understated forms.

Project Description:
Ocht: The Everyday Bag is a versatile and pragmatic solution to the 824,600 tonnes of plastic waste generated in Singapore each year.

Inspired by the art of origami, the design applies folds and magnets to create a bag that can expand and retract, accommodating eight carrying options to suit varying everyday needs. Employing sustainable materials such as recycled plastic bags and PET bottles, The Everyday Bag seeks to replace the use of single-purpose bags in favour of a long-term, multi-purpose option.
