DR2009 Products in Asian Cultural Context

Products in Asian Cultural Context enables students to distinguish the attribute of traditional Asian products (particularly the difference between aristocratic & folk crafts in Asia as well as the distinction between Oriental and Occidental products). The scope of exploration lies in four major areas. These comprise the connection between material usage and place; form and religious influences; ornamentation and social status; and function and customary lifestyle. Students are expected to reinterpret and substantiate cultural design heritages through everyday products.
